The location

Downtown, on the beach side of the road

RR210 sits between the main road and the bay. The highway runs south of the building; the beach is north of it, so the walk to the sand never touches the road.

Most of Cabarete's rentals sit on the far side of the Carretera Sosúa–Cabarete, so getting to the water means crossing a busy highway with your towels. This one doesn't.

The building is 350 m from the sand, and the whole route stays off the highway — out past the neighbouring complexes, across an open lot, through the palms, onto the beach. The road runs behind the building, not between it and the sea.

So: a pharmacy, a bank and somewhere to eat are all on this side of the road. A proper supermarket shop means crossing it once, each way. Traffic is the one genuine risk in Cabarete — more than crime, which we've written about in is Cabarete safe? — so take the crossing slowly, and if you'd rather not walk back with the bags, ask Birgit about a taxi. She is used to arranging exactly this.

Built for a month, not a weekend

Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and a balcony you will end up eating every meal on. It is set up for people who stay long enough to have a routine — a supermarket run, a laundry day, a favourite spot on the sand — and the monthly rate is discounted steeply enough to say so plainly.

The building

A quiet residential block, not a resort

Royal Residences is a small owner-occupied complex around a garden and a pool. The pool is shared — residents and their guests, and nobody bussed in for the day. Most weeks it is close to empty.

There is a lift. It matters more than it sounds: most buildings on this stretch are walk-ups, so arriving with suitcases, coming back from the supermarket with bags, or simply not fancying stairs in the heat all stop being a problem. There is parking on site too.

Step out the other way and you are on Cabarete's main street: shops, colmados, motoconchos, somewhere to eat at any hour. It is a working town rather than a resort strip, which is most of the reason to stay here rather than in a compound outside it.

Is Cabarete safe for tourists?

Cabarete is one of the more relaxed towns on the Dominican Republic's north coast, and the main strip is walkable day and night. Royal Residences is a secure building with cameras and controlled access. Normal travel sense applies — don't leave valuables on the beach, use ATMs inside shops rather than on the street, and agree a taxi fare before you set off.

How much does it cost to rent a condo in Cabarete?

Rates vary by season, with December to April the busiest and most expensive months and June to August offering the best value alongside the strongest winds. RR210 is priced per stay rather than by a fixed nightly rate — message Birgit, our local property manager, on WhatsApp for a quote for your dates. Booking directly avoids platform fees.

What is Kite Beach in Cabarete?

Kite Beach is a stretch of shoreline about 2.7km west of central Cabarete, and one of the world's best-known kitesurfing spots thanks to steady side-onshore trade winds on more than 300 days a year. Cabarete Bay itself is calmer and better for beginners, windsurfing and swimming.

Which airport should I fly into for Cabarete?

Puerto Plata (POP) is the closest airport, roughly 25 minutes by taxi and about USD 35–40. Santiago (STI) is around 90 minutes and Santo Domingo (SDQ) about four hours. Punta Cana (PUJ) is on the opposite side of the island and takes six to seven hours by road, so it is rarely worth it.

Do you need a car in Cabarete?

No. Restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacies, ATMs and the beach are all within walking distance of Royal Residences. For day trips such as the 27 Waterfalls of Damajagua or Playa Grande, taxis and local guides are inexpensive and easy to arrange through Birgit.

Is there an elevator at Royal Residences?

Yes. The building has a lift, which is not a given on this stretch of Cabarete — many of the nearby buildings are walk-ups. It makes a real difference arriving with luggage, carrying shopping home, and for guests who would rather not take stairs in the heat. There is parking on site as well, and the building has cameras and controlled access.
