Amenity lists on rental sites are written to be scanned, so they tend to flatten everything to the same weight: "Wi-Fi" sits beside "generator backup" as though the two mattered equally. In Cabarete they do not. This page is the same list the homepage shows, with the reasons attached — which of these actually change a stay on the Dominican north coast, and which are just nice.
RR210 is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo on the second floor of Royal Residences, in downtown Cabarete, 350 m from the sand and on the beach side of the road. It sleeps four.
The kitchen, and why you'll use it
Newly renovated kitchen — gas range, full fridge. Plus a microwave, a blender, a coffee station and enough counter and storage to cook properly rather than reheat. Gas matters here for the same reason the generator does: a gas range keeps working through a power cut.
You will cook more than you expect. Cabarete has good restaurants and they are a short walk away, but the supermarkets are on the same stretch of road as the building, produce is cheap, and after a week of eating out most people want a kitchen. Ours is the part of the condo that was most recently redone.
The laundry, which is not a small thing
There is a washing machine in the unit. Not a shared laundry room downstairs, not a drop-off service down the road. In a beach town everything you own ends up damp, salty and sanded, and the difference between a machine in the condo and a machine somewhere else is the difference between packing for a week and packing for three.
Weekly cleaning is included in the stay, so a longer booking does not slowly become a housekeeping project.
Power, water and internet — the north-coast questions
These four are the ones worth reading twice. They are also the ones most listings for this town leave out, which is usually an answer in itself.
Generator backup. Grid power on the north coast goes out. Not constantly, but regularly enough to shape a day, and the complex has a generator so the unit keeps running through it.
The complex has its own well rather than depending solely on the municipal supply — the second half of the same question, and the one people forget to ask.
Solar hot water. Sunshine is the one input Cabarete never runs short of.
Wi-Fi in the unit, and it reaches the pool. If you are coming to work from here, that combination is the point: the wifi does not stop at the door of the condo.
Sleeping and bathrooms
Queen bed plus two singles — a queen in the master, two single beds in the second room, which can be set up as twins. Four people, comfortably, without anyone on a sofa.
Air conditioning throughout, both bedrooms independently. Many nights you will not want it: the same trade wind that made this bay a kiteboarding destination blows across the town, and the living area's ceiling fan is usually enough. It is there for the nights when it isn't.
Two full bathrooms, one ensuite off the master. Four adults are not queueing for one shower — an unglamorous detail that decides more holidays than the view does.
Living, screens and the balcony
Smart TVs in both rooms, with streaming apps, for the evening after a day in the wind.
The 2nd-floor balcony looks over the garden and the pool, with the sea beyond. To be straight about it: the ocean is a glimpse through the palms rather than a panorama. We would rather show you a photograph of the real view than sell you a wider one — the building page has it.
The shared parts of the building
The pool is shared. It sits at the centre of the complex with gardens around it, and it is for residents and their guests only — no day-trippers, no hotel crowd. That is the honest selling point, and it is a better one than a private pool would be at this price. Most owners are not here at once, so on an ordinary day it is quiet.
Garden views from the balcony and the windows, and the gardens are the reason the complex reads residential rather than transient.
Elevator access to the second floor. Useful with luggage, a board bag, or a week of groceries.
Secure building with cameras, gated. For most guests this is the quiet reason to choose a building like this one over a standalone rental in town.
Free on-site parking. It is not assigned — spaces are first come, first served — which is worth knowing if you are arriving late with a rental car.
And the location, which is an amenity
Cabarete Beach is a 350 m walk, and the walk does not cross the Carretera. The highway runs south of the building and the sea is north, so the whole route to the sand stays off the road.
